Default T56 Problem

2002 WS6 68k mi. stock.

The problem goes as follows, I push the clutch pedal to the floor and the noise goes away but as soon as I release the pedal, there is an irregular whirring noise in the T56 area. I'm currently in school and have little time, I cant narrow it down. But I was hoping someone could chime in before I take the assembly down eventually. I am guessing it could be the pilot bearing?

The fact that is goes away when you push in the clutch pedal leads me to believe it is related to the slave and/or throw out bearing.

Thanks for chiming in man, I initially believed that also. Maybe input shaft is grinding on something? I forgot to add, that the noise persists when cruising/gear engaged. Because of this problem, I dont drive the car at all. All gears go in smoothly though. It baffles me that at this mileage, there could be something wrong with the transmission. I am the third owner, so I dont know how it was abused before.

It's hard to diagnose over the internet. However I also doubt it is your transmission. If it was your input shaft or pilot bearing, then I would imagine that the noise would happen all of the time regardless of what the clutch was doing. It seems much more likely that it is either your clutch or your slave/throwout bearing. If the trans has to come out, might as well have a clutch kit w/ slave ready to go back in if necessary.
