Default LS2/T56 clutch suggestions

Hello all,

I have a bone stock LS2/T56 combo DBC. It is in a 1967 Chevelle so total weight will be around 3400 pounds.

Of course I will do a burn out from time to time and hot rod around a little, but the purpose of the build is to be a daily driver. Reliability and drivability are the most important factors in the build.

from the threads I have read Swapper, a few threads below, seems to related best to mine except he has more power and won't be a daily. So the double disc clutch sounds good. My original thought was using a factory GM replacement, but perhaps McCleod double clutch is the way to go?

The clutch, pressure plate and flywheel have 180,000 miles on them so I also wonder if I should replace the flywheel or just have it surfaced and a new ring put on it?

Thanks for your advice.

Clint

In my swap I used a monster stage 2 with my s2, but I also have a cam headers ect. Clutch drives like stock, no chatter. Holds my power and 5k rpm clutch dumps at the track.

A twin plate clutch...if that's what you are referring to by "double clutch" would be a mental waste of money for a stock setup where there are any number of singles that would cover anything you'd ever need for such an engine.

As for whether the flywheel needs replaced or work...until you look at it you cant say.

I just used a stock LS7 clutch, pressure plate and flywheel. Stock LS2 in a 63 Nova, not a daily driver but I do beat on it, I’m happy with it.
