Default Anyone use this specific T-56 rebuild kit?

Im looking to upgrade my T-56 transmission and would like to do this

<non-sponor link deleted>

Was wondering if anyone here has done it or know of someone that has got it done. I have a good builder around me that should be able to make it happen.

Thanks for your post. Please be aware of our policies regarding non-sponsor solicitations and posting links to retail sites of non-sponsors.

With regard to rebuild parts, I trust that you will find many suppliers are out of stock or discontinued. I recall that some of the gears and other parts are hard to come by these days. So, if you find an advertised rebuild kit that is out of stock, you should call the company directly to see if there is an actual pathway to them getting the parts back in.

Your best approach may be to ask here if people know if any companies are out there who can supply re-build parts. (Let's just refrain from posting links to non-sponsor retail sites.)

So I am curious. Did a salesperson from LS1Tech ask unnamed place above to become a sponsor and they refused? I was talking to a place that makes/sells LS parts the other day and they had never heard of this site. Would it not be better to leave some of these links viewable so the said vendor can see how much response he/she gets then they have a reason to become a sponsor?

OP

IDK what year T56 you are talking about but suppliers like D&D Performance, Tick, thegearbox.com sell T56 parts/kits along with Hawks. IDK what kits or parts they all offer but I have dealt with both D&D and thegearbox for T56 parts for my LT1 application

Does not appear any of those are listed in the vendor section

Maybe the guy who deleted your link could have posted a "sponsored" link of a supplier...if there is one

There are many variants of the T56...so if someone is selling a kit, you'd need to be very sure it's the right one for you.

And as others say, they're getting old now and some parts can be hard to find, or a lot of places sell reproduced parts in place of genuine Tremec

This has been pointed out many times in many places here, but we can do it again.

This site is not free and it does not magically run itself. The bills are paid by our sponsors (scrolling along the right side of your web browser) and when people post links to non-sponsor advertising or non-sponsor retail sites, it undercuts their investment in the site we are enjoying and it undercuts their investment in us.

There is no "censorship" prohibition on mentioning/discussing companies, manufacturers, or sources of supply. The limitation is only on non-sponsor advertising and retail links. (This is the stuff our sponsors pay money for.)

All the moderators here are volunteers, so you are more than welcome to pitch in for the community and suggest to your favorite companies that they should get involved in the site. It's very easy: All they have to do is click the "Advertising" link on the banner at the bottom of the page.

Or just post to the manufacturer's web page. It's not a lot of effort to go one step further to a neutral link. If people aren't sure what this means:

Retail Link: (This is one of our sponsors'.) http://www.stranoparts.com/partdetai...D=20&ModelID=7

Manufacturer/Retail Neutral Link: http://www.koni-na.com/en-US/NorthAm...ormance/Sport/

wtf u been here for 10 years and can't understand why its in bad taste that the moderator censored the non sponsor link? we all need to try to protect the "investors" in this website so that it can continue on, especially with all the competition in the aftermarket parts world.

the op asked wouldn't it be good for the non sponsor website to know that they are getting business from this site and maybe invest in an attempt to get more? probably not, because why would they pay to advertise when they get it for free from people posting their company link on here? food for thought.

I understand sponsors pay....my point was a moderator deleted a non sponsor link and did not advise OP a alternate link of a sponsor for T56 parts

yep, just trying to help the Op.

Mr wssix99, I appreciate your, and other moderators on this site, for keeping the "lights on" so others can share info about the car platforms this site is tailored to.

I had hoped in enforcing your non sponsor link policy you could have been the one to offer some "company names" in a unbiased way to the Op but since you didn't and only offered a note that said

" Your best approach may be to ask here if people know if any companies are out there who can supply re-build parts."

I did while expressing "my opinion" on you not doing so. Apologies if you are offended by that.

The link was to a co. that ripped off intellectual property, parts design, and catalog listings of a long time sponsor here.

Moderation was just. Get over it, rookies.

No offense. Many of us moderate a number of subsections and we don't have time to get personally invested in every thread; even though we need to hop in and make edits. So, we'll rely on the community for help.

In the case of manual transmissions and parts, we do have a number of long time sponsors who offer parts and services in this rebuild area, so I would probably defer to the community and personal experiences, anyway.

(Fortunately, I haven't personally had to undergo a rebuild yet. But now that I've said that, my T56 will probably grenade on me tomorrow.)
