Default Help with Tremic trans

Just looking for some input from others on what you'd recommend for a trans. I'm an automatic guy not very knowledgeable on manuals. Have a 69 camaro with munch in it right now, but just as I did in the rear I want to pull the factory stuff out sit it on the shelf so I don't kill it. Pulling the 396 and puting a 540 in it. Any recommendations on transmissions to throw in it. I've been told Tremic but see several different models. Any help greatly appreciated !!!!

If you want any chance of it living with abuse.... plunk down and get the Tremec T56 Magnum. A TKO600 5spd won't last behind that setup. 2.66 ratio is the best option (TUET11009)

Luckily in the Gen1 Camaros you don't need to modify the trans tunnel.

Quicktime SBC/BBC bellhousing will adapt it. Then you just order up a twin disc clutch/flyhweel for the type of driving/abuse you plan to give it

Appreciate the reply gnx. I'm on a mission looking for a 56 now. Definitely want something strong. Have a procharger setup for the 540 I most likely will be messing with.

OP

I bought my T56 from D&D performance in Michigan. They are one source that should be able to answer your application ?'s

I agree the magnum, as suggested, would be good
