As others have mentioned, you have to push in the line, then push in the nylon sleeve, otherwise those fingers on the slave side are digging into the ledge on the master side, and the nylon sleeve isn't strong enough to break that grip. At this point you need a new nylon sleeve.

If you can't get the pin out on the master side and drop the trans and then mess with it, just cut the line and buy a dorman repo and be done with it. Your time is worth something too and not spend forever screwing with the stupid braided line.

Just ordered a new sleeve from Tick. I'll try pulling the old one out with a pair of needle nose, slide the new one on there, and use the tool I got from WS6 project. We'll see how it goes.

if you can get the transmission backed off, the slave can be unbolted and the trans removed. Never had to cut one.

without unbolting the master? Never seem enough slack in the line to pull the trans back enough to unbolt it with the line still attached.

On my car I can move the trans back far enough to squeeze a hand in to undo the 2 bolts, but mine isnt an OEM fitment, but space is tight. I did deliberately leave some length on the hydraulic hose though to allow some movement. Couple of inches and a ratcheting spanner will do it.

The new sleeve arrived from Tick last night. So I removed the old sleeve, put the new one in place, and after about 15 seconds of pressing with the removal tool it popped right out. Don't know if something was wrong with the other sleeve or not, but once it was replaced the line popped right out.

Thanks for everyone's help. Now on to actually replacing the MC.
