Default LQ9 to ZF 6 Speed?

Does anyone know if they make pairing kits to mate a 6.0 LQ9 to a ZF S6-40 trans? I'm fairly certain the LQ9 is based off the LS2 but I don't know to what extent. Will a bell housing clutch and flywheel for an LS2 or other LS work with an LQ9 or is modification required? Thanks in advance

The bell housing bolt pattern is the same across all gen3/4 engines your crank may or may not have a spacer on the end which you will need to pop off.

Also, I think the 7s and maybe others, have 8 bolt cranks so you may have to check out compatible flywheels.

The LS4 is the only exception.

Wasn’t the ZF a C4 transmission - which is NOT an LS car? I’m sure this is going to be no different than trying to convert any other LT1 trans. Maybe more difficult since the ZF didn’t come behind any LS as far as I know of.

People put powerglides, th350/400's and any other earlier trans behind LS's so I'm pretty sure it's reasonably doable.

The input shaft of an automatic doesn’t go anywhere near the crank shaft. Completely different interface. Not even remotely the same thing.

Ok ******** people put ******* muncie's behind LS's. Along with about any other trans you can think of automatic or manual.

What does that have to do with a ZF? The ZF is a German transmission with no aftermarket support whatsoever, they don't even sell rebuild kits for the thing, it was only put in like 3 cars - all of them from different manufacturers with completely different setups - and here you are comparing it to a Muncie that was practically the T56 of its day. But by all means, have at it, let us know how you make out.

Call ZF Doc if you're dead set on making it happen. I got to see his adapter at his shop years ago.
