Default T56 5th gear issue

The shifter will slide into 5th gear nicely, whether rolling or at a stop, but as soon as you let the clutch out, nothing. It acts as another neutral but makes a rattley sound. It has no pull whatsoever. 1-4, 6th and reverse work just fine. Sometimes reverse is a little hard to get into but I understand that’s nor irregular. It’s a stock 150k mile T56, and a Tick master and LS7 clutch since about 135k. When the clutch was put in my transmission guy changed the fluid and said the old fluid looked good. He also said he won’t open up a T56. Any ideas as to what’s wrong and how much it will be to fix, or if a complete rebuild is my best bet?

Only way to know 100% is to remove the tailshaft housing. At 150k a rebuild probably isn't a bad idea either. I'm assuming the motor is stock?

stock LS1 with a lid and catback. It did have a monster stage 2 clutch when I bought it, but I’ve since put a LS7 Luk ProGold

well then time to pull the box apart, and find a bit of a mess inside.
