Default Slow Shifting

I'm new to this platform, having recently acquired a '02 WS6 with only 21K miles. I'm finding it difficult to shift this thing quickly in a drag race type scenario. It shifts smooth as butter, I just can't grab gears quickly. Is this typical and is there a solution?

You just need a good shifter - then add a short stick to it.

You probably have the sock shifter on there, which is like trying to shift a wet noodle. The shifter, itself, is flimsy and the stick has a rubber isolator in it that robs you of a solid connection to the shifter. It's a true crime against humanity and I removed mine immediately when it came back from the dealer's lot. (first thing)

I think most people prefer the MGW shifter, which comes with a shorter stick.

I have a Hurst Billet Plus with a "Lou's Short Stick" added, which has been just fine for regular street driving.

You should be able to find a bunch of threads in this section on those, particularly the MGW. There are some other brands out there, but I'm not sure the selection (of other options) is as available as it used to be.

Also, google the anti venom mod. You put a copper washer behind the detent solenoid. It reduces the shifting effort and helps it drop into gear with less effort on the shift lever

MGW shifter and a Harlon shift light is classified as steak and potatoes. You should try it out.

I did the drill mod with no improvement at all. A Tick master cylinder has been ordered. I have copper washers for the anti-venom mod. A MGW shifter will come later.

The big thing about the MGW shifter is the shorter throw and better hand position. As far as shift quality, the anti-venom mod made the most improvement on my T56.
