Default Transmission fluid
I have a 2002 z28 with the t56 in it. I just had the transmission rebuilt a few weeks ago and am gonna be getting the car running here. The t56 is the original transmission and is an 02’. My builder suggested the synchromesh fluid to me. (Part # 12345449) but I can’t find it anywhere really. Anyone know the best fluid to run in this year t56 or what’s the best manual trans fluid these days ? Thanks

I think your part# "12345449" is one number off. Part# 12345349 is a GM synchromesh fluid, superseded to 10-4006 AC-Delco.

I'm running the penzoil synchromesh in the yellow bottle that any parts store has on the shelf. Mines a '98, so it's "not supposed to work", but it's been in for two years, shifts great, and no "cold morning" hangups trying to get her in gear. Zero noise, also. I love it.

For reference the correct fluid to run is dexron3

was told to run synchromesh by my builder. Said dexron3 is fine if it’s stock but it’s built.

I don't disagree with your builder, syncromesh is a thin fluid and you may notice issues when the transmission is cold in sub 40degree weather.

It will work just fine, I just noticed issues when cold and I live in texas. So it never gets really cold persay

yeah the car is only driven during the spring/summer anyways. Should work good
