I replaced the output shaft bushing with one from Texas Drivetrain in my F-body T56 when I did a rebuild on it and got maybe a couple hundred miles on it before the output shaft bushing spun and ate itself. For those who have done a replacement what output shaft bushing did you go with and how did you install it? Was any loctite or sealant used to keep the bushing in place?

The problem with replacing a bushing after you've spun one in the housing is that the housing bore diameter is now larger than it is suppose to be. You can remove the housing, hone it a little bit larger and press fit a TH350 bushing in it. Using a T56 bushing now won't really work well if the housing bore is larger than original.

Good point. If I'm going to have to remove the tailhousing though I might as well just get a new one instead. They aren't that pricey and this way there's a much lower likelihood of failure again.

Bronze. No sealant.
The F and GTO tailhousing oil grooves are defective for bushing serviceability.
Driving with properly sized bushing tool helps. Honing i.d. helps. Reducing the o.d.... well, read the o.p. lol. The long version sold by a non-sponsor can and will fail too. Changing parts design isn't successful when it fails to address the defect, and changes the aspects of the part necessary to work.
