Default tr6060 clearance questions

I am in the process of converting my TR6060 to a t56 magnum [mainshaft and tail housing swap, as well as 2nd gear carbon syncro and blocker ring, new rear mainshaft bearing, bronze fork bushings, etc]

Midway through [enough to install the mainshaft and counter shaft in the case] and its time to set clearances for them. I have seen the ones done for the t56, but the t56 differs a tad when doing so.....

I believe all i need to do is:
- pull current shims
- install both mainshaft and countershaft in the main case
- bolt on the front plate/bellhousing
- check both shafts current endplay with dial indicator...... the mainshaft clearance will be checked be the slop in between the input shaft and mainshaft
- do the math to get .002 preload mainshaft and .002 preload countershaft [no end play]
- remove front plate, add necessary shims, reinstall and check
- finish installation

does this seem correct? are there any other measurements i need to look out for?

thanks.
this is my first time disassembling a gm manual trans.

It's better to have some shim(s) that give a low end play amount, than no shims. A dial showing 0.005" is just easier to verify accurate, than a 0.035" reading.
