SPEC Stage 2 (or 3) users?
Hey all. I've done a good deal of searching but most of the performance reports are old. Could I get some feedback from stage 2 or 3 users. I'm leaning toward the Stage 2 cause I'm only putting down 365 at the rear wheels (about 415 at the flywheel) and I want to avoid chatter and get the best driveability. I only go to the track a few times a year and usually launch at around 2k. I would actually go with the stage 1 or a Z06 clutch but I'm a little too close to the max for them.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Look at the mods in my sig and compare them to yours. My QTP headers and LS6 intake are going on at the end of the month and the Spec II is plently for what I have now and I expect for my approaching additions. This is a great clutch for a street strip car. Excellent drivability and it grabs like a **** when you bang through the gears. I will go with the Spec 3i when I get into the engine though.

I have a Spec III and I love it. It chatters everyonce in a while and drivability is just like a stock clutch. I drive my car daily with about 5k miles on the clutch and I have loved it from day one. Just be sure to get the up graded slave and master and do the drill mod. I skipped on the drill mod and sometimes at the track I can feel alittle pressure drop in the line in between shifts; which the drill mod eliminates.

I also just installed a spec stage 3 clutch a few weeks ago. At first, it did chatter a bit, and took some practice to drive around with the A/C on during the break in period. I now have about 600 miles on it (including break in miles) and it feels like the stock clutch. I really don't even notice the clutch pedal pressure to be any stiffer. It has very nice street manners, and will hold up to the power I'm planning to throw at it. It grabs hard.

I think Matt @ TTP has the hydraulics upgrade for about $250 (includes master and slave cylinder). So with the clutch kit and hydraulics, it's $650 shipped. You will also need a new flywheel or re-surface your stocker. I got a new GM flywheel for just under $70 shipped to my door from e-bay. You can get the hydraulics upgrade from somewhere else for a little cheaper, but I can't post from where because they're not a sponsor.

I got the upgraded hydraulics from ttperformance for $250 and did the drill mod myself (instructions are on installuniversity.com) and the Spec Stage 3 was $400 so it came out to $650 shipped to my door in about 4 days. I have about 250 miles on mine and still breaking it in. The chattering is REALLY annoying at first but it has slowly started to go away and I'm sure once I give it hell a couple of times it'll go away completely.

I have the 2 as you can see from my sig but I wish I had gone 3 Just my .02 but I would gladly deal with a bit of chatter since after the 500 mile break in on this one it feels just like if not easier than stock. Don't get me wrong though...it pulls like a **** still when you need it to and SPEC customer service was great. Fast Toys is where I got mine from back in Dec. good help there too. Good luck.

I have the stage 3 and like everyone says, break-in is kind of a bitch, but after a few 3K dumps at the strip and 5 or 600 miles before-hand, it doesn't chatter much at all and grips like an SOB. I shift at 6500 or so and it never skipped a beat. I would highly recommend it because the pedal feel is not much stiffer than stock. Just make sure you upgrade the slave/master and do the drill mod. Hope this helps your decision.
