Question bet you never heard this happen before

lately this has been happening to me. i have a m6 and when i shift from 2nd to 3rd i let of the clutch IN third gear then wot and it just bounces off the rev limiter. it's like it's in neutral but it is actually in 3rd gear. so then i have to push the clutch in pull it out of third then under nonwot shifting it goes into 3rd. it only does this at wide open throttle up to 6000 rpm. i took it to the dealer and they don't really know but they replaced the clutch stating they thought it was the problem but i don't think it is. please help me. anyone

Sounds like something to do with the clutch assembly. Might be the flywheel getting stuck and revving the engine.

Bent shift fork maybe??? I had that happen once, almost seemed like it went inbetween 3rd and 5th. Someone behind me even mentioned that they saw my back up lights flip on for a second. Only mine actually stuck there, I had to yank on it to get it to pop back into neutral, then it went back into 3rd fine. I never had that happen again, however, I had the tranny rebuilt a year or so later and went ahead and had the steel 3-4 shift fork installed.

Probably shift fork. Does it get stuck in 3rd or is it easy to get out? It's generally called the 'mystery gear', between 1st and 3rd when you have a bent shift fork.

Could also be a bent shift fork, but I would have expected a dealer to notice that as that is pretty obvious when it is bent. But that is also a likely; never happened to any of my cars though, luckily.

Have them install the updated steel shift fork (#88996653) as the original one is alumunumunumun. That's what they installed in mine under warrenty.

what was wrong with yours that they put the steel forks in? i was told that the later into the production year they put them in because of warranty work in the future for such a problem
