Default Shifters

I'm in the market for a new shifter, i have never replaced the actual shifter, just the shift stick and a ****. Is it hard to dig into to get the actual shifter out of the tranny and put a new one in??

I have heard of Pro-5.0 and the B&M Ripper. I was wondering if there are anymore out there and what do all/most/ or what would yall prefer?

I'm open to anything here. None of my car pals around wilson,nc really got a pro-5.0 nor a B&M Ripper for me to try out.

I was thinking about going Pro-5.0; i have heard great things about them and match it with a T-hangle shifter in black.

I have also heard of the "Lou's Short Stick" from afterthoughts auto and i actually had one until my old car got messed up. I'm actually thinking about going with Lou's again and just getting a T-handle for it.

I got the B&M Ripper I like it alot its a really good shifter and has not given me any problems since I bought the car, but if the car did not have it when I bought it, I would have wanted to put the Pro 5.0 with Lous stick on it, seems to be the best choice, you cant go wrong with either one of them though.

Love my pro 5.0! Install couldn't be easier. All you'll need is standard hand tools and about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how slow you take it.

coolness. Now the pro-5.0 has the long stick that lou's short stick would bolt to like the factory hurst shifter??

On the B&M website I saw pictures of the pro 5.0 and it looks just like a long shifter (well short) but a long rod with threads on top and no bolts to bolt lou's to.

??

B&M is considered a 1 piece I believe, to use Lou's Short Stick you need to go with the Pro 5.0.

Alot of people prefer the Pro 5.0 in combination with LSS.

BTW, are there any sponsors or sites that have B&M for a decent price. I'm a bit hesitant about buying from sites I just 'google' for.

I've got the "Rippper" in my car and love it. I've driven a Pro 5.0 and liked it too.

Factory Hurst with LSS and love it.

I had issues with the Pro 5.0

If you already have the factory Hurst, I'd try the LSS and see what you think first before buying a complete shifter. The factory stick is garbage.

I like the B&M Ripper but I've never tried any of the other ones. I'm not sure where Wilson is exactly but if its anywhere near the Concord/Charlotte area we could meet up and you can try out the B&M.

LOL. Well....Wilson, NC is like 40min EAST of Raleigh. However I go to school at UNC Charlotte and I will be around there after Jan 10th. Would you mind dropping by sometime after then, I'm free from 1pm and on everyday and of course I will be there on weekends. I could even meet you somewhere near that area. I don't drive my car to Charlotte (it stays in the garage) i would just hop a ride out with a friend to meet you. My numbers 252-205-6142 and if you have a nextel my DC # is 150*19277*1

Greatly Appreciate it if you could.

See the thing is I had louse short stick and the factory hurst and I liked it but I'm trying to match the shifter with a T-handle or some similar shift ****. I had a red pheonix **** from MBA ordered thru thunder racing and it was almost just toooo short. Like the **** was in the leather boot.

I think i will take a look at the pro 5.0. The ripper seems like it wouldn't be too short tho, just have to get a **** for it that won't be way down in the boot.

I love my Ripper Shifter. I have driven a couple of cars with a pro 50 and they felt good as well. They are both good shifters.

Yeah man, I live about 10 min. from UNCC's campus so that wouldn't be a problem at all. I'll hit you up one day next week or just shoot me a pm on here when you get down to Charlotte and we can meet up somewhere.

B&M ripper, i got it, i love it, i wouldnt reccomend otherwise, because i love the results i've had with mine, i've heard good things about the pro 5.0, but i'm perfectly happy with my b&m ripper, and its 1 piece guaranteed never to break, plus its cheaper than getting the pro 5.0 and the short stick combined...

I think Jarods short stick is 1/2" - 3/4" taller.

I did a review on both sticks a while back:
