Default clutch adjustment????????

K guys, sorry but I'm new to this manual tranny stuff. I got a McCleod Master and a Spec Stage 3 Clutch. It has like 10k on it and had been working fine. Lately the pedal now engages all the way near the top. Also when I'm trying to nail it for a good pass and power shift it i can hear the clutch slipping. I know these are hydraulic clutchs but doing searches just confused me a lil. SOme people say you can adjust it and some say you can't. Can one of you experts help me clear this up.

thanks.

If u look at the Slave u will see a rod and a nut in the middle of the rod. If the nut moves then the pedal feel will change and if it moved alot u could lose pedal pressure so the clutch will be always engaged. Thats what happned to me.

Now I'm more confussed (idiot). If its the nut on the rod near the clutch pedal.... I thought that was just to adjust pedal height. I was told because of the hydraulics you cant really adjust the clutch itself. But from what your saying it sounds like the problem I have. It lets out so high that it feels like it cant totally engage.

Im having the exact same problem.. I have an 01 ss with spec clutch... the stock master gave out and the clutch started to stick to the floor on occasion. I just installed a new mcleod master and now the clutch ingages and disingages at the very top. I cant seem to fix it.. I've ajusted the master in and out pretty far but it seems to never feel even close to normal.. any suggestions???

The pedal travel with the Mcloed master sucks. It will never feel like the stock master. U will just have to get used to it.

Correct. The McLeod MC always releases pretty much near the top.

Y2KSS: You may need to remove the shim behind your slave now. As a clutch wears, the pp fingers move outward, towards the TO/slave assmbly. If yo have a shim behind the slave it could be causing the TO bearing to be constantly pushing on the pp fingers a little bit. This would result in both clutch slippage and a really high feeling clutch pedal.

Hey Dustin... I have since changed the clutch and had the flywheel resurfaced. It was hammered. Clutch was definately gone. I haven't started it yet...just doing some gauges, brakes and other adjustments. I bled it a lil but it still feels kinda soft. I'm dredding the imfamous shim. I hope I don't need it. Both RAM and the machinist said I didn't need one. We shall see.

Same deal lee...you may not need that shim behind the slave (assuming you have a shim). Have you done the drill mod?

The Spec clutch "usually" has a shim that they put behind the slave. This moves the slave closer to the pp. If your clutch some wear on it may have moved the pp fingers out to the point of causing the TO bearing to constantly be pushing on the pp..resulting in slippage. Did you install the clutch yourself?
