grinding from 1st to 2nd at high rpm shift

Default grinding from 1st to 2nd at high rpm shift

when i shift from first to second gear slowly at high rpm it goes in ok but when i try to shift fast between first and second it grinds and won't go in. does anyone know what would cause this? thanks.

I had that exact problem. If you shift from 1st to 2nd nice and slow it goes in, but if you put it in fast it grinds then goes in. If I remember correctly my 2nd gear syncro went out. So I had tranny rebuilt stronger.

I have a similar issue, but mine does go into 2nd gear but grinds sometimes.

Drill mod and blocker rings in your synchros. Try the drill mod first, it's cheaper and easier to do

Depending if you do it yourself. You can get a whole synchro rebuild kit for around $200 and do it all yourself but I, personally, would not consider it an "easy install". A shop would prob charge you a standard charge just to take out the tranny and also to tear it down and replace the synchro(s). So it could cost you from $200 - $700. Synchros are my absolute nemesis I can share in your pain. It's sad these cars punish us for not granny shifting.
