From what i have read and by talking to people the 5.0 is best for the drag strip and the ripper is better on the street. most people will say to try to drive both and get the one that feels the best to you. but it sounds like the 5.0 can take more abuse. If im wrong someone correct me, this is just what i have gotten from other peoples experiences. i have had the 5.0 with the shortstick on my 98 camaro and loved it. im gonna try the new shifter from texas speed and performance, and will post when i get it installed. had to beat 119.00 for a shifter if it works.

i would highly recomend the short stick to powershift. hope this helps

some of us run the b&m ripper some run the pro 5.0 its all a matter of preffrence, none is better for faster shifting. i can smoke throught the gears with my ripper and so do a few others i know, i know a few that run the 5.0 also. drive both and choose. i dont like the 5.0, i car tear through the gears better with my ripper

Love my Pro 5.0. Wouldn't trade it for any other shifter.

I bought the Hurst Competition Plus w/ chrome handle off of ebay. Supposedly it's discontinued, but it was well worth it. I'm a little used to it now, but it's a huge improvement over stock. The throws are short (and can be made shorter with a short stick) and it feels very precise. It also has a strong spring and will snap right back into neutral which I really like. Hurst hasn't been around all these years for nothing and I think that some people forget about that.

Pro 5.0 and Lou's Short Stick. Forget about using your center console cup holder as this is truly a short stick with a very short throw. By the way, on any shifter that you purchase, make sure to use Locktite on the shifter and stick bolts. The best way to keep any aftermarket shifter quiet is to go to an car stereo dealer and buy the Dynomat speaker kit ($20 for two 6x9 sheets). Put the Dynomat down and then your rubber based shift boot surround on top of it. Wrap the remaining Dynomat around the shifter base. Quieter than stock!

Go to AfterthoughtsAuto.com to purchase the 5.0 and LSS

This has been asked many times. I have driven a Hurst, stock and Ripper. I liked the Ripper the best of those, but the stick was still a little too long for me. I did not want to machine it, so I sold it and bought a 5.0. It is in the mail so I have yet to try it out, but I had a custom short stick built to my specs and I think that will be the ultimate set-up for me. You really have to drive them and choose for yourself. I loved my Ripper, it was hard to let it go. But I will like my new setup based on the feedback from this site.

Do a search. This is like a dead horse getting beat on allready. Pro 5.0 here and cut 1' off of it. Works sweet and you dont have to go and buy some $40 BS stick.
