Question Spec Stage 3 clutch NEED HELP !!!???!!!

Ok, I've just put in my new Spec stage 3 clutch into my 00' SS today. Well I had A shop do it for me, lol, Everything seems to be fine, besides that when I start to drive really slow, (you know like in a traffic or pulling in/out the garage) I feel like the whole car is shaking, you can feel something moving and hear some noise from the driveshaft and the transmission, it's very irritating, but when you launch a little harder, faster, everything is fine, and car goes smooth. That shaking, moving and noise happens only when I start from first gear very slow or when I'm in the reverse very slow, all other gears are fine and go in like it supposed too. When I got under the car it seems like the driveshaft is a little loose ( when I put my hands on it and tried to move it, it moves a little.) I'm not sure if it was like that on stock, but I can't see how I could get it any stiffer. The mechanic says that everything is back in its place and there is no way to tighten it any more. He says that its that kind of clutch and that Stage 3 is not recommended for street use. Is there anything wrong with it???, please help me out guys. PLEASE

That is the famous SPEC clutch chatter. I had two SPEC 3 before and they shattered like hell and shaked the whole car. You will just have to live with it or try giving it more RPM to minimize the chatter.

dammeeee How about that?
Question # 1 : would It help anything if I'll Install GM slave cylinder?
Question # 2 : would it be a lot of trouble since the clutch is in allready?
Question # 3 : I paid $250.00 for clutch installation, so How much would it cost to install the slave cylinder ?

I just dont see how would a slave help the chatter. Some say the chatter should lessen after 600 miles or so. Both my SPEC 3 lasted less than 1000 miles and the chatter was still there before they blew up.

Do you have any idea why they recommend that all 98 - 00 camaros MUST upgrade the slave cylinder. I didn't folloe them but why do they say it?

Im not sure since i already had an 02 slave. Now im running a Mcloed with adj slave, but its not handling the power so i might jump on a STAGE 4 Ceramic SPEC or the Aussie clutch.

I don't have the spec 3, but do plan on getting it. From the research I have done on this board, it seems that the chatter is normal during the break in period when the friction surfaces are bedding in. Most guys have said that after they finished break in, they took it to the track and beat the hell out of it and it went away.

Try a search.

The newer slave is recomended because it was redesigned to flow more fluid. The first time your clutch pedal sticks to the floor you will have wish you had gotten it. But your car may be an exception and it not be needed.

you guys would never believe this but my Spec 5 does not chatter lol. It squealed for awhile but now that is going away also.

I have heard that chatter during break in is normal on a Spec 3, alot of guys say after the break in do a couple of clutch dumps at high rpm and that usually gets rid of the chatter.

Chatter on a Cpec S3 is normal. To upgrade the slave you will need to pull the trans again. After the breakin the chatter will be a lot less. You will also learn to drive better for this clutch. It is not like the factory clutch as it will not slip as well.

Chaning out the slave cylinder will not do anything for the chatter. Like you mentioned, you have to rev a little higher and sort of dump the clutch to get no chatter, or live with it during the break-in period. Once you're done with the break in period, (if you have anymore chatter after that) do a couple of clutch dumps and it should go away. It will get better.

I haev always experienced the chatter during the break in process only . Give it 1000 miles with easy driving and no full throttle burst . After that , do the smokiest burnout and full throttle run you can banging the gears . After that , you should be good to go .

My Spec S3 chattered for awhile.. but after the "recomended break in" period I took it out on a back road and beat the ever-living hell out of it... and it loved it.. it was asking for more! Break the clutch in, and then go ***** to the wall with a WOT run see if that doesn't shut it up.

Thanks guys for all your help. I think that chatter will go away like most of you said. After three days of easy driving I feel a difference allready. It's not shaking as much, so I hope after a while it will be gone. Thanks again.

I love my Spec 3 and yes, it chatters when I start up too slow. Accept the chatter as the price you pay to have a clutch that hooks up. My aluminum flywheel doesn't help either. When I had my 4.10s in, it wasn't as bad.
