Isnt' there a blanket you can put over the trans to? I remember reading an article on one made of kevlar IIRC.

I dump the clutch at 6600+ rpm at the track and this has been one of the things in the back of my mind. I'll definitely be doing this mod with the new clutch.

The McLoed is on back order. I ordered one from Thunder 3-4 weeks ago and still nothing. Just a heads up, if you are getting one, order it soon. IMO, these bellhousings are must haves when you start making decent power, revving high, and doing high rpm clutch dumps. Might be a good idea for the lower power cars too. Not having your feet get cut off for a few hundred bucks is worth the price to me.

Since when did we have a SFI bellhousing come out? The last I heard was for a LS1 swap to a SBC motor.

This is NOT good news! I have a 3I and push ~430 HP and spin to 7k.......

No clutch company is gonna compensate you for any other damages other than the part they make, i.e. the clutch.

Just ain't gonna happen. That's the way all aftermarket car product warranty's work.

its for bolting a Muncie tranny to a LS1. will NOT work for a M6 tranny.

Isnt' there a blanket you can put over the trans to
Well you can put on a tranny blanket...but its not legal by any racing sanctioning body for a manual transmission...its better than nothing I suppose

The tranny blanket is for the tranny, not the bellhousing. You're supposed to have a SFI Bellhousing and SFI tranny case, but the blanket is for the tranny's that don't have an SFI case available or a SFI tranny sheild.

If you swap to a TH400... what's the deal with that? I have heard about flexplates exploding too... so do the th400's that most people run have a blowproof housing that's SFI approved on them already.. or is there somethign else to along with it?

If I planned on keeping the 6 speed in my car forever..that mcloud housing would be on order, if not already on my car.... but I've ben putting it off as I'm not sure exactly whaty I'm gonna do when the spec 4I clutch I'm running or the tranny goes on me.

Your buddy is lucky he still has his legs. I will be going for a bellhousing when I change the clutch. Good luck getting it backtogether.

I was wrong... the lakewood is to adapt a t10 to an ls1. i should have looked into it more before i posted. I now have a mcleod on order. hopefully it gets here soon.

Second item from bottom:

http://www.exoticmuscle.com/webpage....&CATSEL=SAFETY

Downside is it won't protect the engine block. It has a label that says "SFI Manufacturer Certified 4-1" I haven't installed it yet, waiting for warmer weather.

Any clutch can let go, most of these clutches for these cars use stock pressure plate covers and flywheels - 500rwhp and 7000rpm you are asking for trouble. IMO its silly for anyone to make that kind of power and not and not have a scattershield. One day someone is going to get hurt..

Are the Spec PP not sfi rated? I know this is not a guarantee that the clutch will not come apart on you, but it does lend a little more piece of mind until a scatersheild can be installed.

I'm glad I've got a RAM in my car...

Do they make a plate for the transmission side as well??? It would be nice to protect it from fragments as it can be costly as well...

or buying a plastic foot... I'm more worried about that, as a fragged engine can be replaced.
