Pulling M6 trans was easy... Bellhousing? Yikes!
Started my first LS1 clutch swap this afternoon. Took about 2 hrs to get the tranny out - no big deal. But when it came to the bellhousing...
The passenger's side bellhousing stud - the part pressed in to the block - had rusted (car came from Lake Jackson / Galveston area - salty air ). Anyhow, it had crusted to the bellhousing, and I spent an hour beating, prying, slamming, and cursing, trying to get that off. Finally after much beating, it came off. Hopefully it's still straight.
What a pain in the rear. Ah well, get to take the flywheel to the machine shop tomorrow.
My hands hurt. Again.

I'm putting in the Cartek clutch & hydraulics. They were the first thing I bought for the car (back in September), but just now getting around to installing.
BTW, my car had ~48k miles on stock clutch. Driven pretty easy until I bought it at the end of August. Still, stock clutch didn't look too bad, but the flywheel has 3 rather blue wear spots on it.

I did my first install a month or two ago, my buddy and I must've pryed on that bellhousing for over an hour! PITA! Put some anti-seize on those pins when you re-install the bellhousing. It might help for next time.

Yah, I will definitely anti-sieze the thing (after sanding it down a little). I hate that stuff, though. Gets everywhere, and I always seem to leave the cap off the tube, put the tube on the floor, and step on it or roll the creeper over it. Every time.
Some day I'll learn.

Here's a tip that you might or might not know. When I pulled my M6 to put the Th400 in the top bolts on the bellhousing can be a BITCH. To get to them required a long *** extension, swivel, etc... all I did was take out my shifter out of the tranny and put a 20" extension from inside the car....had a friend put it on the bolt from under the car and it was very easy to get at like that.

Yeah, those top bellhousing bolts on an A4 (or A3 ) car can be a real beeotch.
When some local guys came over one day to 'help' me do a TC install, they laughed when I pulled out about 3 feet of extensions - wobbles, straights, and whatnot. I lined it all up in this huge monstrosity. They laughed at me. When I popped out those top bellhousing bolts in no time...

Hee hee hee, nothing like having all the right tools. I don't like it when they want to work on their cars at their places. Seems I always end up coming back to my house to get more of my tools.
