Default Drag radials and stock clutch..

I have a real traction problem with the stock tires. My last time at the track I ran a 2.7 60foot to end with a 13.0 @ 117.. I'm squeezing the car in 2nd-4th leaving at 1/2 throttle feathering til I hit second and hook.

I'm wondering how drag radials will work with the car. I know a ton of people are running them with M6's. My concern is the rear end though. I've seen some people pull low 1.7 and even 1.6 60's.. Will the stock 10 bolt handle that abuse with an M6? I mainly play on the street and will be at the track maybe 4 times a year. I eventualy want to put a 12 bolt in it but can't fork out the money right now..

Also, with the DR's the stock clutch would be the weak point not the rear right? Thanks for the info..

I think there are guys that have broke the rear with the stock clutch. But my experience is I have had the clutch slipping and not broke the rearend. I have 30 passes or so on mine. And that's with 4.10's. I'm pulling 2.0 60' times on stock GoodYear F1's.

LIL SS, how much power are you putting to your rear end, I have a 99 m6 and with the mods I am putting in I will be around 400hp, with this comes the understanding that the rear end is not going to hold out very well. I would not put drag radials on until you have installed a new cluch and changed the rearend. Just my $.02

The stock clutch isn't going to hold up long with 400 RWHP and DR's.

Don't ask how I know.

To be very honest I don't know how much power I am putting out. I'm guessing 425rwhp. Mods are Lid/filter, GMAF/MAFT, BBK TB, Cats removed with Hooker mufler (Cut out at track) , 125 NOS shot.

My 117 mph pass was with only 800psi in the bottle. I have had the clutch slip 3 times on me before the jug. Hasn't slipped since.

FWIW, I have gone through my third Z06 clutch in my SS. First two went on motor and this last I believe went due to the spray. My rear is fine and I run on ET streets. Im only leaving at around 2500 RPMS though. Cutting 1.9 short times. Im on my way to pick up the Ram set up. Seems to be the best bang for the buck clutch out there right now.
