Default Help Ram Powergrip Problems

I had a 2000 z28 (just sold to my buddy). Anyways installed ram powergrip hd, ram billet flywheel, drill mod, and new slave not even 10,000 miles ago. He went to drive it to work yesterday moring and the car will not shift, so he drives it back home in 1st. The clutch was working fine the day before. Pedal pressure is the same as it has and there is no fulid loss from the master. If you start the car in gear w/clutch pedal to floor, it tries to move alittle, but you cant get into next gear w/car running. Also when he tried to back up there was a nasty metal to metal sound. Please help.

thanks,
m6z

Sounds like it is not disengaging completely. Clutch is dragging, thus making it hard to shift. My best guess.

sounds like what happend to me... clutch wasn't disengaging completely... fixed it by putting a very small spacer between the salve and the tranny... they reccomend bearing shim kit 598....

I had the same problem when I had a ram clutch installed. If you call Ram directly they recommend you put the sclave cylinder spacer in. It is really thick .150". I haven't gotten a chance to drive the car yet because it is being worked on now. I will update when I get the car back. The tech at Ram said the spacer will take care of the clutch not disengaging. Just to be sure I spent the extra money on a new GM performace slave cylinder. My car is an 00 SS and GM switched to a better slave in 01-02 that has more travel. Ram said it may be over kill because my car only has 30000 miles on it and the stock slave should be good but it can't hurt to change it.

On another note, Ram also sells and adjustable master, not to be confused with the Mcloud master, but I was informed by Ram I shouldn't need it if the car is disengaging really low. It is typically used if the car is disengaging really high.

I will get the car back and update as to the condidtion.
