Default Question about shifter?

My '01 Z has the hurst in it. My question is, is this supposed to just be a basic shifter or is it supposed to have a shorter throw?

I would like a shifter with less slop and shorter throw. Any recommendations?

Thank you.

The OEM Hurst wasn't too much better than the standard shifter IMO. I've had a B&M Ripper in my Z28 now for five years and still love it. A lot of folks also like the Pro 5.0 with Lou's Short-Stick mod.

OK, that's like *ancient* info - I have no idea what people are using right now, but I stand by the Ripper/Pro 5.0 and think you'd be happy with either one. Especially if you got a good deal on a used one.

mgw makes the greatest, shortest, shifter i have ever felt in my life. all the others on the market cant even compare to theirs. i have one in my mach 1 mustang. they dont make one for the vette yet but they said they plan on having one out by the end of the year. its well worth the wait, trust me. www.mgwltd.com

I have a B&M ripper on my iroc and love it. Although I want to run a lou short stick in the SS. I know the pro 5.0 works with the short stick, but is it a real short throw like the B&M?

A guy I drove with once that had the Pro 5.0 + Short Stick on his T-56, he had about a 2 inch throw between gears...

I've only have experience with the stock Hurst and the Pro 5.0. The 5.0 is great. Solid feel and short throw.
