Default doing clutch install toaday....question

Last time i used the instructions from cartek i think to get the correct torque numbers for reinstallation. I'm wondering if its necessary to take out the tranny first and then the bellhousing. Why not just pull it all together? Thats the way I've always done it on older cars. Am I missing something? BTW I'm going back with the Ram 402/6130 i think it is..my modified m/c and the 145 slave.

Don't remember the torque numbers off hand, and the helms is at home

You have to take the trans first, then the bellhousing. You can't get at the bolts to remove the bellhousing w/ the trans still installed. Just no room

Hmmm I think I can get to them ok....I have small hands....swivels and extensions but we shall see soon enuff. Harlan would you recommend I do something different clutch wise? I dont give a **** about driveability.....I just want a clutch that will hold when I do go to the track. It turns out I was sold a metallic disc with a pressure plate that has about 2400-2600 lb rating. After talking to the guy again, it is apparent he knew the pp was weak but figured it would hold with the metallic disc. He did not disclose this when I bought the clutch but lesson LEARNED! Its just a local clutch shop here...not one of our vendors. get that 2 step done cause after I put this clutch in I'm ready to bust the rear leaving on 2-3psi of boost! Harlan gimme you honest opinion clutch wise...what do you think about the 980 disc (i think thats the one) I just dont want to do this again in the next 3 months.

i've not had any experience w/ the 900 series disc so it's tough to tell.

The RAM plate i use is a 3000 lb static clamp force.

I'm guessing you'll be ok w/ the ~2600 plate. As the stocker is in the range of 1800, and the SPEC's were getting away w/ a stock clamp force and aggressive material.

I'm using the 6100 series disc, and it's a no **** clutch. When it grabs, it grabs.

I fear i'm going to blaze new teritory w/ the new motor this year. Should be fun, and i'm fairly certain the RAM is on the way out.

Do you have the 900 disc now??

good luck trying to get at the bolts you're gonna need it if you try to get it out in one piece.

Harlan I just took OUT a 2400-2600 pp.....or so the clutch man is GUESSING...will post a few pics in just a sec. Remember with no 2 step I have only the power of a STOCK ls1...i thought this would hold. Will take some pics in a sec. You were right...its possible...but WAAYYY easier to just unbolt the tranny and then the bell housing Here are the pics...wonder if anyone has access to the info and can tell me what pressure that pp is.

At least guys will know NOT to use this....and as far as the 6100 being a "no ****" clutch

Well just got back from that clutch place and he did turn my flywheel for free so it could be worse. Now I just have to go to Barnett tomorrow and get the RAM stuff but the "145" slave wont be here till between Wed-Fri
