Pro 5.0 Noise????
Pro 5.0 Noise???? I just installed a Pro 5.0 shifter on my '02 SS last night but now I have alot of tranny noise or whatever it is in my cabin. Is there a way to cut this down some??? I even used some rubber gasket material and RTV on top and bottom of it to make a better seal to the tranny. The shifter feels great in shifts except when going into fourth I have to put a little more into it and it makes a metal on metal sound. Anyone have any of these problems, if so, or you know anything that can help.....HELP! <img src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" border="0" alt="[hail]" />

Re: Pro 5.0 Noise???? One of the dirty little secrets of some upgraded shifters is the increased cabin noise. It is not something you think about until after you install the shifter. I have it, 'course it now gets lost in high lift valvetrain noise and exhaust roar when I stomp on it.

isolaters. These bushings, while they make the
shifter quiet, also contribute to the mushy,
unconnected feel. The Pro 5.0 eliminates the
bushings, giving a more positive feel, the tradeoff being the extra noise.

Re: Pro 5.0 Noise???? My car picked up a fair amount of noise with the Pro 5.0 too. I just play the stereo louder. When I add the Hookers and a cut out I don't think the shifer noise will be much of an issue. <img src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
Re: Pro 5.0 Noise???? A friend of mine has a Pro 5.0 in his 94T/A and his car pick up some noise too not as much as mine did. His 00 FireHawk has the Hurst which is a good shifter much better than stock but has virtually no more noise than the stock shifter. Personally, I don't think the Hurst is quite as good as the Pro 5.0 and I don't like the Hurst higher handle but that's just me.
Might try to find a Factory Hurst someone's swapped out for a few bones.
