Stock clutch diagnoses <pics>
Well started to install a new clutch today and to my amazement I found the stocker to be in much worse shape than I initially thought.
Anyone care to comment on what exactly was happening with the stocker? Doesn't look like normal wear to me.
To say it was abused is an understatement, I honestly can't believe it held up so well up to this point considering what I have put it through. I could feel it starting to slip on hard launching and at my last track outing I could smell burned clutch when I went to get my slip. I decided not to tempt fate until I had the time/money/energy to put a new one in.
See pics below.

Alot of them look like that when pushed. The results of heat do a number on it.
The stock pressure plate is woefully inadequate. It allows slippage too easily. Add more power to the car & it gets much worse.
The best thing you can do is upgrade the clutch & the hydraulic's.

The inner part of the ring seems "normal", its the spots on the outer half that intrigue me.
I'm not to sure what "normal" is, which is why I posted up.

Ya it looks just like what i pulled out of my tranny last week except mine looked a little worse with some deeper grooves in the flywheel and the clutch pad was missing a section heat is a bitch on the stock clutches i only had 23,000 on my stock clutch and it was gone and then some but you have to pay to play. Also my release bearing was totally fried I went with a spec stage 3 and so far it is great.
