Thats what my clutch pedal is doing when I press it in and release it. Can I/Should I just squirt some white lith up there, or do I have another problem?

Thats about all you can do, unless you find a worn out bushing. You may even try taking out the spring, but you probably won't get it back in if you wanted to, it's not really needed though.

The return spring is already gone. How hard is it to replace the bushing. This squeak will kill me.

Also, try putting some lithium around the rubber that the rod on the master cylinder goes through. Never replaced the bushing, but I'm sure it's a pain.

It's not just a return spring, it also helps you hold the pedal down after half travel. But I bet if you took it out you probably wouldn't notice a difference. Your talking 5-10 lbs of pressure, thats not that much when you have your leg pushing it.
