I like my Ripper, it's very very solid feeling. I just drove a stock 96 the other day, I dunno if the shifters are different between LT1 and LS1, but the stock shifter on that 96 felt like you could break or bend it. I'm curious about how the 5.0 feels with a short stick, I think I'd like a little shorter throws than I have now, but I also don't really want the extra noise that I heard you get from the 5.0. My Ripper isn't any louder than the stock shifter.

One thing, the Z28 ball **** leaves a gold threaded section exposed, does the Hurst shift **** cover this up? I really don't want to cut off a piece of it.

i recommend getting a pistol grip handle, you can get them at http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...=egnsearch.asp scroll down until you get to part # HUU-1536000, and i have it screwed on top of my 5.0 shifter and my shifts are so fast and i never miss a shift, the 5.0 is an excellent shifter, but matched to this pistol grip theres nothing better

how hard is it to install a shifter?? it doesnt look too hard to me, im no expert by all means...but all i would need to know is how to take off the shift boot and i would think it would be easy to install after that...

Cake mod in my book. You take off the *** and boot, then take off like 6-8 screws, remove the console, then take off the under boot, then the shifter comes right off. Then reverse.

Here is a how-to for ya

Are these things heavy (the Hurst pistol grip)?? I'm trying to find the lightest shift **** I can. The reason for this is to try and put as little stress as possible on the T56's internals, particularly the shift forks/pads. With my ultra firm road race type suspension this becomes an issue (you should see that handle dance with a heavy MBA billet **** on there!!).

Im ordering my Pro5.0 at the end of the week. Cant wait to put it on.

For a shift **** I ordered a MBA billet aluminum shift ****. Black engraved with WS.6
Check out afterthoughtsauto.com or thunderracing.com for those shift *****. They have several colors/engravings you can get. Not to mention its just aluminum, it will be very light. Only problem MIGHT be heat from the tranny getting the shifter hot

The way I see it is that the engineers from GM did'nt choose to equip SS and WS-6 cars with Hurst shifters for nothing. I think they should know what real quality is.
