Like I said, I have a Hurst billet plus shifter and I can bang gears with the best of them. Does the Pro 5.0 or B&M ripper have adjustable over-throw blocks? Because I know the Hurst does which will prolong the life of the tranny. The Hurst works really well for me, and yes I have tried the Pro 5.0 and the Ripper. Also,Hurst has been around the racing scene A LOT longer than B&M and Pro 5.0. Might I add that Hurst also is the manufacturer who invented the HURST jaws of life which has saved many lives. So yeah, I'd say that Hurst is a quality shifter.

Not saying its not a quality shifter, but I went with a pro50, which does have the adjustable stops.

So how do I adjust these stops?

this is the ripper uncut, sorry for the quality. i just put on the pro 5.0 with the LSS and i think it knocks the ripper out of the water. i love how the 5.0 clicks into place and it seems to have shorter throws to me. still, they both are a great choice!

I personally think the Hurst is the smoothest, but the Pro 5.0 has shorter throws. If You want smoothness more than shorter throws, go with the Hurst. If You want shorter throws more than smoothness than go with the Pro 5.0. But You cant go wrong with the Hurst. The Hurst also has throws a lot shorter than stock.

I have had the Ripper for 8 years now and I love it. My car is driven about 10K miles a year and goes to the dragstrip about 4 times a year. Lately I've noticed that it misses third at the track and either gets hung up between 3rd and 5th or just goes right to 5th. I can't see how this is the shifter's fault since it's just a ball at the end so I'm thinking it's the trans. Any thoughts?

I've heard a lot of good about both units but I heard the 5.0 is guaranteed to not miss 3rd, is that true?
Thanks,
Troy

update: just got done installing my UMI short stick to my hurst short throw and its amazing...MUCH MUCH shorter throw then the stock hurst stick, just clicks into place without any effort. if you have a stock hurst shifter id suggest putting a short stick on it, theres a BIG difference!

if shifted both.... they are both nice shifters, but i prefer the Pro5.0 with the long stick. for some reason the long stick is easier to shift for me. maybe cause it's angled in towards the driver. either way, my vote defiantelyl goes to the pro5.0.

Well I just fixed my Pro 5.0, on LS2.com there is a thread about putting a shim on top of the spring, i did that and couldn't get it in to reverse so that was out. I went to Ace HardWare they have a lot of different springs, I matched the diameter of the original spring to one that has less coils but is stronger(stiffer) and a little taller and man what a difference, makes it alot funner and easier to drive!! And while I was at it I took the Lou's short stick that bought it with(deal with afterthoughtsauto) off and put a short stick from Speed Inc. Its a little taller that the LSS around 1/2 inch but suprizingly I can shift better now with that one but it feels weird, partly because I have had the LSS on there for over a year and switching to a strait stick from a bent stick feels alot different. I am thinking about taking some nuts and putting them in between the shifter stick and the shifter base to get it over a little because when its in 1st its right in the middleof the shifter whole and I think thats where it should be when its in 3rd. but so far so good!

just got the Fidanza short throw shifter, installing today, and going to the track later today, only paid $70 for it... I was going to get the B&M but wanted to try something different and plus it was way cheaper!
