trouble with reverse

Default trouble with reverse

My car doesn't like to go into reverse. It's a bitch...all the time. Anyone else? Suggestions? ...........Synchros?

just plain doesn't want to go in. No grinding or popping out. I have too give it a few taps for it to go in every time. Gear works fine once engaged.

Check the reverse solenoid, it's supposed to prevent engaging reverse when the car is moving forward >5mph

Default Reverse Solinoid

Unless you're having trouble getting it past the reverse solinoid I wouldn't think it's that. Sounds like that's not the case. If the stick pushes all the way to the right and the taps are required for the last few inchs of travel forward I would have to say it's something else. Mabye Synchros but don't quote me. The solinoid gate would prevent the right-ward travel of the stick.

yeah the stick move to the right okay and even goes forward most of the way it just needs to be tapped into place. Kinda sux and I would like to fix it.

If you're having rough shifts or difficulty getting into other gears it's a clutch disegagment issue. If not I'd guess warn synchros/keys or possibly a bent shift fork. Pushing on it too hard over and over will probably make it worse. Personally I sometimes have to shift mine into a different gear (I use 3rd) then into reverse.

Brand new master last week. No disengagement problems. I'll try the shift to 3rd then R thing. Thanks for the help.
