Default Mcleod?

I see all this talk about Ram, Spec, Textralia, etc....why doesnt anyone ever consider Mcleod anymore? I hardly ever see somebody recommend it (except me). There's no problems with it is there? I know Ive never had anything go wrong with mine so far. I got the single disk kevlar and its been in for ~35,000 miles and it was all street miles, but just recently I started beating on it hard going to he track and dumping it at 5k. So we'll see how long it holds up to that. Anyways, just curious.

I've had nothing but problems with my mcloed (twin) clutch and there customer service isn't all that great either. The splines in the hub strip/round out. This has happened to me 3 times now, after the second time it rounded out my input shaft and needed to be replaced. Mcloed claimed that there hub is made of soft metal that won't hurt the input shaft.... WRONG. I've also had one of the disc come apart and one of the fingers break off. Needless to say the clutch sits in the box that my new spec clutch came in now.

oh wow. Sorry to hear about your luck. What stage spec? I hope not 3

I think if I ever need a new clutch, I'll just have the pads changed on mine or get a RAM

because they cost to much and the new text is holding just as much with stock style feel. for us poor folk, the stage 4 is holding just as much power and is a great deal cheaper

The McLeod Twin is just about the only clutch I'll recommend to people anymore. I destroyed a stock clutch, a McLeod Single, and a RAM Powergrip HD... took the Twin to actually make it through several races in a row without going belly up.

They don't call me the northwest section's master of drivetrain disaster for nothin'.

I have a Mecleod single disk. Works great except where the owner smoked it.

I also had it sent in for rebuild when I rebuilt my transmission and their customer service was fine with me.

Thumbs up

Probably because few people are willing to step up to such a costly, but quality clutch. Even with the "LS7 clutch craze" you'll see people whining about a $500 set up. Truth is, few people are willing ot invest in a quality piece up front... sort of like building up a broken 10-bolt instead of stepping to a 12-bolt and calling it done.

My LT1 chewed up a stock clutch at 90,000 miles. The Street Twin that replaced it has since lasted 130,000 miles, hundreds of hard launches, blown up three 10-bolt rearends (long story) and still grabs faster than Winona Ryder in Tiffany's.

McLeod's the ****... but you gotta pay to play kids.

I 've had great luck w/ my McLeod's.
Had a single, lasted 15K street &track w/ slick visits lol.
Now have the twin, never seen faster release on any other hydraulic actuated clutch set up.
I have 5K & lots of track time w/slicks on it
I even broke my chrome moly spohn center mount torque arm on a launch w/ it. <Full weight car
It is still going like day one.

Glad to hear from other satisfied customers as well. Yes its costly, I think my single with adj. master cylinder was $750 when I bought it 2-3 years ago, but it hasnt failed me since

How is the pedal pressure on the McLeod twin disc? Is it easier compared to a Spec3 or Ram Powergrip?

Mine is good, it is little tough, but I am totally used to it.
It feels solid though I prefer a coil spring pressure plate over a diaphram spring'd one.
