broken clutch pedal spring
a month or two ago while driving i heard what sounded like a spring snapping but my clutch pedal seems fine so i never worried about it. Then tonite my buddy told me his clutch pedal spring broke and i thought back and am pretty sure that is what happened to me...the funny thing is i never found the spring anywhere on the floor when i looked for it. So is it something i need to worry about?

Re: broken clutch pedal spring
The exact same thing happened to me about a week ago. I'm driving around, right? Just crusing, not laying into the throttle or anything like that. Foot is barely even touching the clutch pedal, not applying any pressure, and I hear this metallic clunk from down where my feet are. I pull over and find a little black piece of metal and notice that my clutch is squeaking and making weird noises. But, it works just fine. I even shut the car off and restarted it to make sure the starter safety switch underneath the clutch pedal still worked, and it did. Anyway, I just don't think any more about it. I guess it's not that big of a deal, but we'll see if someone else posts up.

Re: broken clutch pedal spring
It happened to me 2 times, its not a big deal, its just the return spring...first time it broke I got the horrible squeaking, which really pissed me off, so I replaced it, about 3 months later I feel the crunch in my foot again...and I feel the piece land on my foot...so I go and grab it, the pedal never squeaked after the 2nd time so I didn't bother replacing it..
