Default Mcleod pilot bearing install

Hey guy am going to finish installing my new street twin tomorrow and just thought id ask about the pilot install b4 i continue. Im unsure of which way it goes in. Im assuming that the smaller step goes in to the crank but i want to be sure before i complete the install. Thanks in advance

the beveled part goes toward the transmission to aid in stabbing it all back together. i am in the middle of a clutch swap to
