What's the best way to do burnouts with an M6. Getting new rear Monday and want to leave none on the old Goodyears?

Put the shifter in 1st gear and Push the clutch in and rev it to about 4000 rpm`s, quickly remove your leg from the clutch and put it on the brake. When you want to make your getaway , very slow release the brake and you will be moving forward.

rev it up a lil. dump the clutch and hold the brake enough to stop the car from rolling, but not too hard to stop the rear wheels from spinning. Oh, and turn the wheel as needed to keep it straight.

Ah, you beat me to it, but isnt 4000rpms a lil too much? Usually under 3k is all it takes

Flip on the line lock switch, push brakes, push in clutch, put in second gear , rev car to 6k, move left foot to side letting pedal slap up, and sit there until you blow both tires or can't breath anymore .If no line lock you'll have to use the heel and toe method.

I prefer second gear and 2000 RPM does fine too easy to bang off the limiter in 1st.

OK - I revved to 4500, dropped the clutch but it took off and spun. I wish i could have read about the break thing. Did not get any good burnouts. Wow, it hit 6500 quickly. Wanted to mark the road in front of my house but it didn't do a very good jog. It is going to rain tomorrow so I won't get another chance (car doesn't see rain). I remember these tips in the future. Thanks.

For awesome burnouts, a linelock is your friend.

Werd 2nd gear is the one to do it in.

Like the guy above said. You dump the clutch and right away put your left foot on the brake. You'll feal right away if your pushing to hard or not enough. Also DO IT IN 2nd gear, and you dont have to romp the brake either.

Doing burnouts at the dragstrip without a linelock is like cooking all of your meals on a stovetop. You can do it, but an inexpensive microwave (line lock) will make life faster / easier.

You just don't realize how handy a linelock is until you start to use it. Once you do, you'll never want to go back. Great mod.

not to mention what you will spend in rear break pads will eventually be more than the line lock. i believe slp has one for around $130. i had to spend around $200 on mine (corvette tax) but still worth every penny.

Holds fluid pressure on the front brakes - "locking the brake line" pressure. You push the brake pedal, activate the line lock, and a solenoid maintains fluid pressure on the front brakes - while you lift your foot off the pedal (releasing the rear brakes) and you then can do your burnout. Release the switch and the fluid pressure normalize and the fronts roll. No more sideways burnouts either - line lock keeps even pressure on both fronts and the car stays straight. There are even kits available with the pre-bent lines and include all fittings (that's what I'd recommend - I have the Thunder Racing kit on mine, but SJM also has a kit).

Did you turn t/c off???? If I would do a clutch dump at 4500PRMs(even without holding the brake) the whole back of my car would be consumed by smoke within seconds...

I've done that. Went with option A. Blew out a tire. That was fun.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it only hold pressure to the driver's side front? I know my hurst linelock looks like it does...

Left foot operates the clutch only......
Right foot operates the brake with your heel and the gas with your toe.....making it a heel and toe method

Mine holds both. I've gotten sideways, but only on asphalt. And even then it wandered about 6" and then planted.
