We have found to set the catch point around 1 1/2 inches off the floor with the ram clutches using an adjustable master cylinder is optimum . If your catch point is too low , you might miss some gears in high rpm shifts , if it is too high it can shorten the life of your clutch . Ram clutches come with a pressure plate , disc and alignement tool , Slave cylinder/throwout bearings are also available and so are the adjustable master cylinders for a bit extra .
If you run a Powergrip (NON HD) , it will slip a little bit better for street driving and might have a slightly longer street life but I wouldn't run a real sticky tire on it . This kit can also be used with stock flywheels if necessary because the disc is different on each side , it uses a 900 series on the side that mates to the pressure plate and a 300 series on the side that mates to the flywheel . Just thought I would throw a little bit of info out there for you guys with some questions and try to answer them to the best of my knowledge . Ram also has another clutch kit out now that is a dual disc set up using 2 300 series discs with an aluminum flywheel and pressure plate that has 2400 lbs. of clampload , this new set up will handle 900 rwtq and feel nearly as streetable as a stock clutch , this is due to doubling the surface area of contact and the mildly aggressive discs with less clampload and it comes as a balanced assembly , cost is $1199 shipped .

Also , we have some pretty good prices on the Ram clutches and always try to keep them in stock , so check out our website www.neweraperformanceparts.com .

Would the Powergrip (non-hd) be suitable for me, i dont plan on ever being more than H/C around 430rwhp and i will only be running my BFG KDW drag radial? Is just the powergrip enough or should i go HD, i do mainly street driving and cruising, in about 2 years been to the track once. What ya Ram guys say?
thx rob

well i think the ratings are FWHP not RWHP. so if you are 430rwhp thats getting close to 475fwhp i would guess. im sure it would be good. why not spend another $30 and get the big boy might as well. really act about the same on the street. might get a little more chatter but it will hold up better i would think. i would get the HD if you have the option but thats me.

What happens if your engagement point is too hi off the floor. when i installed my RamHD it installed fairly close to the floor after break in it got higher say around stock-maybe it's just me but it seems higher than stock now. I use a brand new ram billet flywheel and the shim they recomend.

get an adjustable master. why did you shim with the new flywheel? i didnt and it was fine. I replaced the clutch cause my slave blew, so just to be safe i didnt want to run it anymore incase it got messed up so i resurfaced the flywheel then shimmed it. not sure how big it was, but ram sent it to me. IMO for the track you want it close to the floor so you can feather it a bit better. for the street, a higher engagement point would be best for constant shifting...thats my take on it, but if im wrong, id like to know. it more an assumption than anything.

When i bought it Texas Speed recomended that i get a billet flywheel with the HD and install the shim if i'm using the stock master-that's what Mike at Ram suggested too?

hmm. my engagement point was fine with the frist install. so is it too high now? if so, then you either need to pull the shim (too much work) or replace the master with an adjustable one (much simpler)

mine is about where stock is i guess. my pedal is not a lot stiffer than stock but you can tell. still have have some chatter at times but she dont slip so i can live with it. have close to 700 mi on her now and she has been in for about 3 weeks. just an FYI for those that might be wanting one.

New stock master and slave. RAM Billet flywheel and the RAM PG-HD clutch. We installed one in mine and a friends car. We had to use the shim. It wouldnt fully disengage without it. Seems great so far.. Still breaking it in. Easy to drive. Firmer than stock. The way a clutch pedal should be.

How are you guys able to use that shim? I had my flywheel resurfaced 8 thousands and used was trying to use the .150" shim from TSP and could not get the tranny in all of the way. It was impossible. So, thank goodness I have an adjustable master to reset my engagement point.
