How to change M6 tranny fluid
i am wanting to change the tranny fluid, i have seen a lot of guys here talking about using Honda ATF fluid in their trannies and seem to like it, or what other type of fluid would you recomend and where can i buy it from.

Re: How to change M6 tranny fluid
There should be a drain on the passenger side of the tranny towards the back. Then fill on the drivers side til the fluid barely seeps from the fill hole. Plug and go. I haven't found a reason to change from the required ATF fluid that GM reccomends...but have heard that the synthetic stuff causes the syncros to swell. Not worth the risk to try a different fluid IMO. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: How to change M6 tranny fluid
I changed my fluid this weekend when I installed my new clutch. Just poured 4 qts. in thru shifter opening, I replaced it with original Dextron III fluid. Dealer tried to tell me I needed synchromesh fluid for my 00SS M6. I informed him it was a T56 and to check his info. It says to use Dextron III ATF right on the drivers side of the tranny.

Re: How to change M6 tranny fluid
When I changed my fluid I had the shifter off so I just poured the 4 quarts straight into where the shifter gets mounted and called it a day. It was a lot eaiser than trying to pump in the fluid through the fill hole. I also use Red Line's tranny fluid. To remove the drain (Passenger side rwar of tranny) and Fill (Drivers side middle of tranny) plugs just grad a 3/8" rachet and extension and your set. Good luck..Michael
