What Clutch is Everyone Using?

You guys that are complaining about the Spec stage ? clutches wearing out prematurly... how did you break the clutch in? I personally put 500 miles on mine before I launch it and dont even roll into WOT till about 350. Iv never had a problem out of them and I had a 700wrhp car with just a Stage III in it. Im putting a Spec Stage IV in my Corvette.

Just installed my Spec 3+ I like it so far. I only have 160 miles on it, I figure mid next week I should have the 500 city miles(a lot of driving around for no reason). I cant wait for 500 so I can rip.

clutches
Had stock ls1, then went to a center force duel friction. Pressure plate weight broke off. Got about 20k out of the center force. Last summer put a spec stage 3 in. Pulled motor and trans to freshen up motor and found the clutch worn out after 4k. Currently looking for the next clutch. Not happy with any of these. Very dissapointed with spec. Would not recomend any of these.

I loved my Spec III with a steel flywheel. Such a positive engagement... you could actually hear the thump of the two meeting together when releasing the pedal! Cant wait to see what the four is like. Hopefully its streetable enough for me.

HAHA! Im sure! I know a guy here that was making 500+ to the wheels and they snapped his 10 bolt on the dyno during the tuning. He now has a 12 bolt on order. I told him I thought it was going to break on the first pass he made at the track... but it never got off the dyno! LOL

My stock LS1 clutch has been very loyal to me. It has held up to tons of 150 shot hits from digs and rolls. I have never seen a stock clutch hold up like mine. I almost feel bad replacing it with an upgraded clutch when i put the new engine in because the old clutch is still fine.
My stocker PWN'S all stock clutches.

Thats what I dont get... I have 34,000 miles on this clutch (bought it on 29000) and its great on the street but as soon as I hit the track and launch it at like 3000 rpm, the pedal stays on the floor and the clutch just rolls over. Anyone know how this can be fixed other than buying a new clutch or upgrading the hydraulics? Its on a '99 FRC with 34,000 miles on it.

My second post in this thread. Now that I have a McLeod Twin Disc I can't believe that I drove the Spec3 for two years. The pedal effort is like stock. The Spec3 is very hard. The McLeod is MUCH more street freindly. You get what you pay for. McLeod Twin Disc the best yet. Used stock, Z06, Spec3, and now have the best of the four.

I am using a Spec stage 3 withe the Spec steel flywheel...no problems so far. It has only been in the car for 3,000 miles and there has only been a few 4,000k clutch drops I try not to slip it to much and with the 4:10's you don't really need to. I would buy a Spec agian but next time it will be a 3+ or a stage 4, to hold future HP.
