What Clutch is Everyone Using?
#162
Had a SPEC 3 until last week and absolutely hated it. It chattered since day one, the pedal was very heavy, I couldn't start out smoothly/slowly from a stop and in heavy stop-go traffic the clutch would start whirring (I'm assuming it was getting too hot).
Had an LS7 clutch installed on Wednesday of last week, and I can honestly say daily driving has become a pleasure again. Very light pedal, extremely smooth, no chatter, grabs extremely hard when you need it to.

LS6 clutch here. I like it but I am wondering how well it will hold up to the new cam and 5000rpm clutch dumps on ET Streets, this happens like once a month at the strip with like 4 runs at the most.

My stock clutch is beginning to slip, it won't bark the tires after shifts like it did a couple weeks ago lol. (The car has around 34kmi on it.)
Looks like I'll go with either the Textralia OZ700 or an LS7.
I'd go straight for the Tex but I have a friend at the dealership that has been giving me some excellent prices. I'll see how much he can get the LS7 for. Does anyone have part #'s for the LS7 clutch and LS2 flywheel?
That Tex clutch sure is purty though.

I have a Ram Powergrip HD here. Its got about 5k on it and its been good until this week. Something gave way... not sure what it is, but it may not be the clutch at all. I think its the clutch fork.
Either way the Powergrip HD is definately a stiff clutch. It is a sintered iron disc, so there is little slippage at all on take off. Its even harder with an aluminum flywheel.
I like it. I dont have to worry about it slipping under my 383. I would recomend it to people who want a stiff clutch. Price isnt too bad either.

I have a SPEC 3 with a Fidanza Alum FW right now. Chatters like a SOB and when its cold the thing whines a bit until it warms up. I thought the chatter would stop after break in but it didnt.
I think Im starting to get some slip in high RPMs... and Im gladdly going to use a different brand and Im deffinately getting rid of the alum FW. Around town the alum FW is annoying.
Gonna go with a Tex OZ700 or maybe even a exoskel.

since i have an 02 SS, its stock clutch is the Z06 one. im happy with it so far. i guess ill need a new one later on down the road as most clutches wear out eventually, but since my car barely has 30k miles on it, im not too worried.

my stocker clutch has 130000 on it. I am changing in the morning to ls7 clutch. I hope it is what i expect. The old man I bought it from was older than dirt. He must have babied it. Within 10,000 miles, I have the throwout bearing chattering.

67K on stock LS1 clutch. I was thinking of going with the LS7 but the guys on the corvette forum have nothing good to say about it. This is definitely an area where ten different people give you ten different answers. Wish I could afford the TEX
