Default Checking tranny fluid, can someone show me pics of where the fill plug is?

I believe my tranny may be down on fluid and wanna check it before taking it into the shop. Also, all i have is a little weinie factory jack, is it safe to do it with that?

You have to get the car off the ground to take the plug out, but the car needs to be level to check the fluid.

The plus is on the passengers side.

I personally won't ever go under a car unless it has a GOOD jack and has a stand under the frame. I'm pretty sure that the easiest way to put tranny fluid in the t-56 is from the top. You can take the shifter out and pour it down there. If you have the fill? plug out, then you'll know you have put enough in when it starts coming out of that plug when you're pouring from the top. So if you are low on tranny fluid, you can confirm that by how much you put in before you see it starting to drain out.

Hope this helps.

The fill plug is located here:

We check it in the air, car level. when fluid slowly seeps from the plug, it is full. The drain is on the pass side tail case, just forward of the trans mount.
Picture of it:

Hope that helps you.

I sure do.

You can get the fluid pump at most any Pep Boys, or auto zone for about $7.99.
