Default cartek vs LS7

Ive seen a lot of info about the ls7 but not really any track info on it. The cartek however i havent found much info even with the search.

its a 2000 SS so i wil be upgrading the master and slave as well, i think the cartek comes with both!?!?

Im going to be putting down about 400-420 NA and between 550 and 600 RWHP on the bottle. 90% of the time it will just be driven on the street but the 10% if time it might see the track with some MT ET Streets.

What clutch do you think i would be best off with or is there another clutch i should look into. I have looked at the textralia or however you spell it but that is a lot of money so thats not really an option at the moment.

thanks for the help,
Trevor

Well if your worried about price don't look at the cartek I checked their website and its 850 plus if you buy a new master its a little less if you send them your master but I don't like the idea of my car out of comission for a couple of days. If you need a heavy duty clutch like a cartek or texterilla you might as well invest in a scatter shield which is going to drive the price up even futher............ You might want to look into the ls7 with power like that, but then you'll be getting the people chimming in saying how its never been abused with a stickey tire so its all up to you and how much you want to spend

after the ls7 clutch is all said and done it will be around 800 or more $$$'s due to buying a new master and slave cylinder. But i am also not sure what flywheel ppl are running with the cartek.

ALso what do ppl think of the spec 3+

Go with the Cartek. The clutch and pressure plate are only $530 + shipping. I reused my flywheel and bought a new slave and pilot bearing for insurance. Handle ~575 TQ in my heavy monster no problem. Already put one 15lb bottle through it. Did everything by myself for ~ $700.
Clutch is light at first then stiffens up around 700 miles. A lot lighter pedal than the Spec 3 I had that just spun with the juice was on. Got two shots then slip and clap.

I don't feel, IMO, that the LS7 will be able to hold the TQ for a long time whereas the Cartek is rated up to 700 lb/tq.

I've had 3 clutches a z06 ,specIII & now I'am running a cartek. So far the cartek is the the best clutch also my car is driven daily and makes about 3 or 4 trips to the track every year.

With that kinda power on the sauce, you will out power the LS7 clutch. They are great for bolt-on only, minor bolt on w/small shot, & stock cars for example. With that much power you just need to bite the bullet & spend the money on a clutch rated in your power/torque area while on the sauce.

here recently ive narrowed it down to 3 clutches.

Spec 3+
Textralia
Cartek.

Obviously if funds allow it i will be going with the text. But if not its btwn the Spec and cartek. Im just kinda iffy about the spec. But my friend has a spec 3 in his car, he dd's it and he loves it. I dunno.

I have the cartek and love it. I've had it for 2 years now and has taken alot of 6600 6700 launches with slicks and doesnt even flinch. I DD it everyday and have zero problems with it. I installed it myself with a stock flywheel, I also have the adjustable master with it that makes setting the release height very fast and easy.

FWIW, I had a Spec 3 in my car before I went with the Cartek. The Spec took 3 shots of juice then melted/slipped to living hell. After that it was never the same and would clap and slip until I changed it out.

Cartek is a good clutch and so is the Spec 3+.A reg. 3 will not take the shot but the + will.
The Spec will probly be more drivable from a stop.
