ANOTHER Clutch Slippage/Problem Howdy! I got my car a couple months ago and drive it hard very rarely. I have put about 3k miles on it and have changed the oil, flushed the TB, injectors, and all that jazz. Everything seemed great and i have an ext warranty which payed for a rear end seal and new cat.
PROBLEM: I floored the car coming to work today in first and when shifting to second, at around 5 grand, the shifter was in the position for second but the motor was revving like it was in first and would not accelerate.
WTF happened? The clutch then felt wierd for the next minute or so, but then everything returned to normal. Was this just fluke thing? Maybe was in in Neutral and am just an idiot? Thanks!

If the motor was revving but the car wasnt going anywhere, either the car wasnt in gear or the clutch was slipping.
Take the car out, cruise up to about 45 mph, put it in 6th and give it some gas. If the RPM's jump, but the car doesnt accelerate then the clutch is slipping.

I've done this before on the 2-3 shift. Scared the hell out of me which lead to me making a thread about it. Most of the replies that I got was that I was in between gates which is why it was stuck. Don't know if it's capable on a 1-2 shift but if so, then no major harm done (from what I was told).

awesome...thanks a lot jake, thats what i was looking to hear. Is it just something that can randomnly happen and has it happened a couple times for you? B/n gates...is that between gears or what exactly?thanks a lot!

It's only happened once. I take it that's what they were meaning (between gears) when they told me

While it is possible to find that position between 1st an3rd gates( the bonus gear) , this is not possible on a 1-2 shift. The gears/ gates share the same plane. If you were in fact in 2nd, giving gas and not accelerating, you clutch was not clamping fully. As was stated above, pick a speed arround 35 and select6th. It will be quite a pull , ratio wise, and will tell you if you need clutch work.
