Default SFI Bellhousing for M6?

Does someone make a NHRA legal bellhousing for the LS1 and the T-56? I found one made by Lakewood, but it is for a T-5.

This is a critically important topic that more people should be paying attention to! A clutch that comes through the bellhousing will also come through the floor and could ultimately come through your leg. I hope the bellhousing manufacturers are paying attention, if not we need to make more noise!!!

I agree! I am paranoid about this happening lately. I have also heard that Mcleod is working on one.

you can get an SFI approved blanket for the bellhousing. wont save the bellhousing, but it will save your legs and the floorpan, and in most if not all cases it will get you by the tech inspector

We had this come up at a track here as well. I started looking and couldn't find anything more than a blanket for it. You'd think with all the T56's there would be one. But then again most people are going to the automatics.

RE; blankets and bellhousings - don't think this is a cure all. We have seen clutch discs saw right through an SFI bellhousing, more than once. These cars make lots of power and when they are raced, the clutch takes alot of stress. Make sure all your components are SFI rated.

Well, how best to do this?

Start some sign up lists.

Then identify who to send the lists to.

A week ago a 96 M6 friend has his clutch come apart and parts came through the floor and sliced the gas pedal off. He is lucky to still have feet and a groin.

I was thinking about it some more, and maybe we can even create a forum for requests like that.

If we could show a company that 30-40 folks will buy one then maybe they will make it.

You guys realize that getting SFI approval means they spend a lot of money blowing a few up.

i would be all over an sfi approved scatter sheild...i would rather gain a few pounds and survive to tell about it than be in a wheel chair and never walk again

How about this for now, I'll start a thread in the sponsor section, and then when it hits 25 folks I will send to the most appropriate aftermarket companies... I guarantee a response.

This is probably like a soft locker for a 33-spline 12-bolt. It'd be great to have 'em, they'd sell like hotcakes, but nobody will make one.

I'm running a bellhousing blanket from http://www.exoticmuscle.com - look at F-body / Safety. You can see it in this pic here on my trans:
