They look cool but I wouldn't use one. You don't grip the handle like that when shifting at the track ( at least I don't). Only the 1-2 shift would I keep a pistol grip. 2-3 is elbow in, push towards passenger front tire. 3-4 is elbow out, palm on the front of the shifter and straight back.
I don't like metal ***** either. After using several differnt ones I went back to a stock leather coverd ****. The metal ones get real hot and slippery.

Not bad but the round ones are a little ricey looking.
Also, the stock threads are metric M16 x 1.5. Maybe 5/8"x 18 is close enough but I'd be leary to try it on my parts.
