Default question about damper springs

so i have had my ls7 clutch for about 6000 miles now daily drive it and get on it from time to time. and it appears i have this clutch rattle. well ive asked around and checked and it seems to be a dampner spring that has failed or what not and causing this noise.

is it safe to drive the car with a bad dampner spring?

It can cause damage in there eventually. Is the spring loose rattling around inside there, is that what you mean?
Sure it's not a bad slave throw out bearing or pilot bearing noise?

well i used gm's si and it told me dampner spring. so im guessing. it rattles under the following conditions....

clutch in, in gear.
downshifting.
normal upshifting.
start ups.

but it doesnt rattle when the clutch is in, not in gear.

i really dont have the time to pull the tranny and take a look but i will more then likely have to.

any ideas. and if a dampner spring is loose can i just put it back in place and put it all back together and go on my merry way? lol
