When we pulled the tranny out, we tried to get it out of 2nd gear. It would still not budge. I would think this would eliminate the clutch now since it is still stuck even after taking it out.

I picked up my new 3.5" driveshaft today and will install it when the tranny goes back in.

I'll defintely take a look at the input shaft when it comes apart.

2bseen, what version Rev-lok did you have? They are now offering a version with a much stiffer pressure plate and a smaller diameter disk. This is the setup I am running now.

well i have built my fair share of gm t-56s and have had very little trouble but you might check into this .... on the mustang t-5 trans i have had problems when the shifter stops (aftermarket shifter only or if has stock sifter with no stops) on the shifter are adjusted too far out. what happens is the gear over shifts allowing the syncro keys to pop out of there position. then when you try to shift out of whatever gear it happens in you get pissed and try to force it bending and sometimes breaking these keys.when this happens the transmission has to be torn down and install new keys.now when you have this issue the trans doesn't shift very well if at all and you usually end up messing up the syncros as well because you are having to exert more force to get it in gear........ you might have a little bit of clutch issues also . the gm factory hydraulics suck !!! thats just my .02

Thanks for the response.

My B&M Ripper has the stops removed. However, I did not shift hard at all this last time to cause any sort of over shifts. I installed the new tranny and drove around for 5 minutes. It then got stuck in 2nd gear pulling back into the shop.

and you did replace the trans with a totally new unit .... another words you didn't just fix the first one right? usually if you have two units giving similiar problems them you need to find the common link . something that has made both units do similiar things.

No, the tranny was just rebuilt. It was not a new or different one.

in that case you have the gear trane moving when trying to shift . both gears 2-4 slide foward when you shift . its just the reverse of the shifter. another words 1 on the stick goes foward on the stick but in the trans goes back. 1-3 are the same movement and 2-4 are the same . to make a long story short ..... its in the trans .

I'm on my 3rd rebuild. My mech found that the lower shifter cradle was bad and fouled up the linkage. This messed up lower shift cradle destroyed my 2nd tranny as well.

He found the prob and after a full T56 rebuild, replaced the cradle and I've never had a gear problem since.

Before that it was nothing but popping out of gear nightmares since delivery of the car with 7 miles on it. Now it is perfect.

The tranny is going back in the car on Sunday or Monday.

We tore it apart to find nothing really wrong. While it is apart, we are going to replace the 1-2 shift fork and the shifter rail just to be on the safe side. 2nd speed gear and the syncro assembly looked in great shape (only 1 mile on it... )

I went ahead and purchased a new Mcleod adjustable m/c and a new "145" GM slave, bled it, and installed it in the car while the tranny was out. This was just done as a precaution, as the other m/c and slave seemed to be doing fine.

I'll know something more definte soon.

Jason, I hope this is the fix for you, too many problems with fresh transmissions. You need to be back racing and posting some good numbers. I have some information and have been given some ideas but don't want to share them here (for obvious reasons). We'll talk when we do the motor install.

I installed the rebuilt tranny this evening. Everything is working great so far after 15miles. I just hope it lasts. lol

We ended up finding the problem on why it got stuck in gear. The 2nd speed speed gear (brand new) was defective. The syncro would slide on the gear, but would not slide off unless you really pryed. We installed another 2nd gear and all is well.

ah well at least problem solved..

for a minute there i thought i was going to have to suggest putting some trans fliud in it, since forgetting that could cause the problem you had in 5 minutes.

though dont ya hate throwing money at stuff that had nothing to do with it (i'll recap)

new driveshaft
new clutch
new master cyl
new slave

just to have a defective part cause it all.. why not send whoever made that gear the bill? or at least give them some grief about it.
