I didnt even think to. Specially since I would rarely look down at the speedo until I was in 4th gear(which has the same ratio).

You won't have to reprogram the speedometer. The driveshaft speed is what tells the speedometer how fast you're going.

sorry for bringing up this old thread, but I want to clarify something

I'm putting a GTO trans with a F-body shifter in my '67 Camaro so I don't have to deal with consoles or anything. Will I still have to modify the F-body shifter to fit the GTO trans or will it work with no mods? TIA

You'll need to get the Fbody "shiftercup" and put it in the GTO trans. Without doing this an Fbody shifter will not fit.

long story short, "I don't know".

I know that the shifter cups are different. Since you don't have to contend with the console, it may not matter as much. Amber sold me the one I used in my swap, and I had no problems at all. I don't remember how much it was, but it wasn't expensive. Here are a few pictures of the differences.

is the longer cup the GTO piece and the shorter one for the F-body?

Yes. The longer one is from the GTO, shorter one is for F-bodies.
