Default Jammed gear??

I hit the gas at about 20mph and when I shifted to 3rd the stick jammed in place. It wasn't in gear, like it was in neutral but was stuck what seemed like next to third if that makes sense? I had to pull on it pretty hard to get it into neutral. I have a Pro 5.0 if that matters. it works perfectly fine right now but I haven't got on it again... Help?

I did the same thing once. Scared the hell out of me. It just got stuck in between forks. No harm done....at least I think so. I did that about a year ago and it hasn't happened since. Car still shifts fine til this day.

It should tell you that you are shifting WAY too hard.

Same thing happened to me in my 01 bird.Theres gotta be something wrong because I never had this problem with my ZF equiped vette. I was told by a reputable tremec rebuilder that it was impossible to get stuck between gears. I sure would like to know what needs to be done.As a side note, a few months ago car and driver complained about this while testing a C6 against a GT500.They had a problem with the vette getting stuck when shifting to third. What gives? These guys are professionals and its happening to them also. Are they shifting to hard?

I also had the same problem with my 01 ws6 I had a pro 5.0 I have since rebuilt the trans I polished the gate plate and repointed it and changed the shifter to a hurts billet and haven't had it happen since. I think it has somthing to do with worn shifters and gate plates combined to cause this. just my opinion though.

To jamb it between gear takes alot more energy than is required to make the quickest shift. A shifter with higher centering loads will help with some but this condition ,although possible , is caused by excessive shifting.Repeated beating on the linkage may cause wear that makes the potential for a between-gate shift greater.Polishing the plate and re-pointing the"finger" will actually make the problem worse.
