Default Clutch vibration and flywheels

How many people have had a clutch installed and ended up with some minor vibration from the clutch with or without a new flywheel? What was the cause for the vibration? I just installed a Ram Clutch, and I believe it is vibrating slightly what would cause this?

You are probably referring to clutch chatter, and it sucks!

i had it with my hays clutch, its just the price you pay for a stiffer clutch i guess. Some say they havent had it or not bad with certain brand clutches, but from what i am starting to gather is that you get it with the stiffer clutches.

you can have the chatter from an improper installation, and I think if you didnt replace your flywheel or resurface it at least, that you are asking for chatter. Also, if some grease or anything else got on the disc material that can do it from what i've read. the flywheel, disc and pressure plate have to be completely clean, and washed with brake cleaner before installation. I even took some sandpaper, and tried to scuff off some of the finish or whatever it is on the flywheel/pressure plate, I dont know if this is necessary, but i've heard its a good idea. If you put grease on your input shaft, make sure you didnt use too much, it can fling into the clutch at high rpm's, and cause chatter/slippage.

If others are having chatter also, i guess you'll have to accept it, and just change your driving technique a little to try and hide it (felt like it wanted to shake my car apart when i had it). revv up the engine a little more, or change the speed/style you use when you release the clutch. I usually needed about 2000rpm to make the chatter completely disappear, to me that is really high when you are in stop and go traffic.

good luck
