Default Be honest, how many upgrades do I really need for my rebuild.

I bought a worn out t-56 to rebuild and put in my car (im rocking a 4l60e right now). The 3/4 shift for is bent, and it needs new syncros or sure. So im deinatly going to get the steel 3/4 fork and the syncros rebuild kit. Iv never built one before.

I was lookign around t56rebuilds and they have so much stuff! id love to spend a grand and buy it all, but id rather not waste my money, I just want it strong enough to handle heads/cam and a little nitrous.

How do you guys feel about the bronze fork pads? is that really gona help any?

And what exactly are the billet slider keys? Are those necessary?

Also, I opened the tranny today and found a little chunk of aluminum. I dont have the ring seperators to get the forks off, but I think that its a chunk off of the 3/4 fork, is that even possible?

thanks guys.
