Default new clutch idea give me you're opinions..

ok here's the skinny. just like everyone else and their mom, i need a new clutch that wil hold and not cost an arm and a leg. so im looking through my latest summitt racing and i stumble upon the ram clutches for 800 bucks. big no no.. on p.321 it shows the specs for the disk as follows. "all chevy ls1, 11.0 x 1-5/32-26" im assuming that the 26 is the spline count cause i cant remember off the top of my head. so im thinking ok big deal..

turn to p.172...

top right hand corner. you've got ram pressure plates and clutches with specs. guess what, they match the spline count, and size. PN ram-6130 is the matching disk and PN ram-402 is the 11" 3k lb pressure plate. cheapest followed by 2 more that fit. i just need to decide which one will fit/work the best for the LS1 cars and we're off to the races. any input guys? am i on to something or just wasting my time/money? if this works out, it'll make a decent clutch/PP combo avaliable for really cheap imo. my car is on a lift with no tranny in it right now so i guess all i have to loose is time, right? ;D

You an use the 402/6130, 402/910, or 402/980 combo in your car. Lots of people buy the setup this way, but I still recommend putting a steel flywheel in as well, pn 1550. If you add up the price of all the components plus the stud and shim set, it equals the price of the VDS assembly. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
